Matt: We decided to take a trip up to Napa this weekend, inspired by Soul Food Farm (I wrote about their tragic farm fire here). Soul Food is in Vacaville, which isn't exactly Napa territory. But if you check out the Soul Food website, you can find locations that either use or sell the Soulful chicken and eggs, and one of those locations is The Fatted Calf in Napa. After reading Samin Nosrat talking about Eccolo's choice to use these eggs, I really wanted to try them. And we've spent some great time in Napa. Sarah particularly liked a lunch she had at Bistro Jeanty, and she also loved Bouchon. So we packed up the Volvo and away we drove.

Actually, I felt like I needed armor to just get inside the bakery - there were that many people. We decided to order our chocolate bouchon and raspberry macaron. Both were delicious. Matt is more of a chocolate person than I am and he approved of the bouchon. The macaron was tasty, but I wasn't hit with a specifically raspberry flavor. (Aside: I feel like I need to hit Paulette next week for the violet cassis and rose macarons. The flavors are dead on.) Lunch at Bistro Jeanty...
